MANILA, Philippines — The third most wanted drug trafficking suspect in Metro Manila was arrested during a sting in Quezon City on Friday night.

Jeffrey Cayabyab, 26, was apprehended by joint teams from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) in Barangay Botocan at around 5:45 p.m.

QCPD director Brig. Gen. Danilo Macerin said Cayabyab, who is also the second most wanted drug personality in Quezon City, has been under surveillance because of his reported involvement in the illegal drug trade.

Police officers cuffed Cayabyab after he accepted P4,500 in marked money from an undercover police officer for a pack of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu. He yielded 10 grams of shabu valued at P68,0000.

Grab driver nabbed after shootout

Meanwhile, a driver of ridesharing firm Grab was arrested following a shootout with lawmen in Barangay Commonwealth at around 11 p.m.

Police officers of the QCPD Station 6 were about to arrest Lucman Manamparan, 43, after he reportedly sold shabu to a policeman posing as a buyer when he pulled out a handgun and opened fire.

A brief chase ensued until he was cornered along Commonwealth Avenue. Seized from him were 12.45 grams of shabu valued at P85,000, a .38 caliber revolver, P11,000 marked money and his sedan.

In Manila, around 40 grams of shabu valued at around P272,000 were seized from Akiro Badjo, 22; Lasarito Antolin, 47; Lilibeth Salgado, 50; Alfredo Baysa, 27; and Rodrigo Versoza, 23, during a sting in Barangay 353, Sta. Cruz on Friday night.

Marcelino Porqueza, 21, and John Paul Porqueza, 20, were arrested in Las Piñas the same night. Police seized around 20 grams of shabu with a street value of around P136,000. – Ralph Edwin Villanueva
