PNP exec in Laguna helicopter crash dies

MANILA, Philippines — Maj. Gen. Jose Ma. Victor Ramos, who was among the passengers of a helicopter that crashed in San Pedro City, Laguna in March, died yesterday. He was 55.

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Camilo Cascolan said Ramos, who had been in coma due to the injuries he suffered, died at at around 12:07 a.m.

“He will be accorded full honors befitting a police general,” Cascolan said.

Ramos was with then PNP chief Archie Gamboa and several other police officials in a Bell 429 helicopter when it crashed after hitting a high-tension wire.

Ramos, who was former PNP director for comptrollership, was supposed to retire on Nov. 25.
