P42 million marijuana destroyed in Kalinga
BAGUIO CITY, Philippines – Anti-narcotics agents uprooted and destroyed marijuana plants worth P42 million in Tinglayan town in Kalinga on Wednesday.
Personnel of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and Cordillera police raided a 3,000-square-meter plantation with 60,000 fully grown marijuana plants valued at P12 million and a 5,000-square-meter plantation with 150,000 marijuana plants worth P30 million in Barangay Loccong.
Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Rwin Pagkalinawan said the cultivators of the plantations eluded arrest.
In Olongapo City, more than 200 grams of shabu valued at P1.5 million were recovered during a sting at the Subic Bay Freeport on Thursday.
Col. Eric Noble, Central Luzon police deputy regional director for operations, said Oliver de Jesus, a resident of Dinalupihan, Bataan, was arrested after selling 25 grams of shabu to an undercover agent. — Raymund Catindig, Victor Martin, Ric Sapnu
