CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines — A 70-year-old woman was arrested yesterday for allegedly hacking to death her husband and daughter-in-law at their house in Barangay Cabalantian, Manticao, Misamis Oriental.
Lt. Chance Ramirez, Manticao police chief, said Divina Bagares used a sickle locally known as sanggot in attacking victims while they were sleeping.
Ramirez said Luciano and Elvie suffered hack wounds on their neck and died at the scene.
The suspect also allegedly hit her three grandchildren, who managed to escape.
Bagares, who denied killing the victims, is reportedly suffering from mental illness.
