MANILA, Philippines — Two Chinese were arrested in Makati City on Monday for allegedly swindling a fellow Chinese.
Xiangyo Yang, 22, and Chen Nan Hui were apprehended in a coffee shop on Yakal street in Barangay San Antonio after Guozheng Cao, 30, complained to police that the two duped him of $8,700 on Thursday.
Police said the suspects offered to convert Cao’s money.
The suspects reportedly promised to deposit the money in his bank account and send him a copy of the receipts.
Cao told police he did not receive the money and the receipts were fake. He set up another meeting with the suspects.
Police recovered from the suspects’ possession a brown envelope containing fake bills.
