12 women rescued from spa offering ‘extra service’

MANILA, Philippines — Twelve women were rescued from a spa supposedly offering “extra service” in Makati City at past midnight yesterday.

Police officers raided Spa Osaka at around 12:40 a.m., according to city police chief Col. Rogelio Simon.

An informant acted as a customer and gave P3,000 to a “therapist” in exchange for sex. She and 11 other women working as therapists were rescued during the raid.

Police officers found sex paraphernalia in the spa’s showroom, Simon said.

They arrested Jeanalyn Fausto, 30, reportedly the spa’s maintainer, and invited three Chinese men who were in the spa during the raid to the station for profiling, Simon said.

He added that the rates of the extra service depended on whether the customer chooses a “regular” or “top” therapist and the sexual activity involved.

Last week, Mayor Abby Binay ordered the city’s business permit and licensing office and the police to shut down establishments that engage in prostitution.
