MANILA, Philippines — The assistant warden of the Quezon City Jail Annex at Camp Bagong Diwa was gunned down in Parañaque City yesterday.

Senior Inspector Robert Barquez, 47, was driving his Mitsubishi Expander along Doña Soledad Avenue in Barangay Don Bosco when he was ambushed by two men on a motorcycle, police said. 

Barquez died at the scene from three gunshot wounds in the head.

His belongings, money and cell phone were intact, according to crime scene investigators led by Maj. Rhea Cornelio.

City police chief Col. Rogelio Rosales told The STAR they are investigating the motive for the murder.
