MALOLOS, Philippines — Phase 1 of the Central Luzon Link Expressway is nearing completion.

The project, which involves the construction of a four-lane expressway spanning 4.1 kilometers with an underpass and two farm passages, is now 97 percent complete, according to Public Works Secretary Mark Villar.

The expressway is seen to cut travel time between Tarlac City and Cabanatuan City from 70 to only 20 minutes. It will traverse La Paz town in Tarlac and Zaragoza and Aliaga in Nueva Ecija and will benefit an average of 11,200 motorists annually.

“As part of the Build, Build, Build program, this project will help in boosting economy and tourism... in the region by providing a safe, fast, comfortable and reliable road network,” Villar said.

The Department of Public Works and Highways road management cluster 1 headed by Undersecretary Emil Sadain is implementing the project with a budget of P14.93 billion from the Official Development Assistance Fund.
