Longest boulevard opens in Camarines Norte

LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines — The Corazon C. Aquino Boulevard in Camarines Norte, dubbed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) as the longest in the country, was opened to the public yesterday.

The P2-billion road project traverses the coastal barangays of Mercedes, Daet, Talisay and Vinzons.

“We are optimistic that with this longest boulevard ... now open... it will boost economic activities in our province,” Camarines Norte Gov. Edgar Tallado said.

The opening of the boulevard coincided with the Bantayog Festival in honor of the first monument of Dr. Jose Rizal.

The Rizal monument was built in Daet, Camarines Norte in 1898, two years after the national hero was executed in Rizal Park.
