MMDA: Brace for weekend traffic jams
MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) yesterday advised motorists to brace for traffic jams this weekend due to road closures.
The MMDA closed several roads in the metropolis last night to allow for repairs of the Department of Public Works and Highways.
Among the roads closed to traffic are C-5 Road in front of SM Aura in Taguig; intersection of EDSA and New York street in Cubao and White Plains in Quezon City.
In Makati, several streets will be closed to motorists starting at 6 a.m. tomorrow for the construction of makeshift chapels to be used on Easter Sunday.
These are San Juan, Don Pedro, Guanzon, San Mateo, Agno, Doña Epifania, Ilaya, J.P. Rizal, Zamora, San Agustin, Bagong Diwa, Ma. Aurora Extension and Osmeña streets.
P. Burgos street to Makati Avenue is also not passable, the MMDA said.
The city government said it would implement a traffic rerouting scheme for the duration of the road closures.
The MMDA advised motorists to look for alternate routes.
