Group offers free rides for PITX users

MANILA, Philippines — Commuters from Cavite using the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange would soon get free rides from the PITX to their destinations in Metro Manila.

At least six air-conditioned buses would be fielded starting on Feb. 14 to ferry commuters at the PITX to their respective destinations in Lawton, Manila; Baclaran, Parañaque City and in Pasay City, said Domingo Roque Jr., president of the Junior Chamber International Senate Philippines.

Roque said the bus deployment aims to alleviate the plight of Cavite residents, who have been complaining of lack of transportation from the PITX to various points in Metro Manila.

Residents claimed it takes them at least two to three hours before they can get a ride to work and home at the PITX.

They have also complained about the additional expense.

Roque, Transport Secretary Art Tugade and Megawide Corporate Foundation Inc. signed a memorandum of agreement recently to provide free bus rides at designated areas going to the PITX.

Dubbed the “SerBus: A Service to Humanity Project,” commuters who are going to and from Lawton, Baclaran and Pasay can get free rides to PITX .

The buses would also service commuters coming from Monumento and going to EDSA, Baclaran and back.
