Makati cop arrested for indiscriminate firing
MANILA, Philippines — A Makati policeman was arrested and beaten by irate residents after he fired his gun indiscriminately during a fiesta in Sampaloc, Manila on Sunday night.
Police Officer 1 Louiejo Badajos, of Tuazon street, was nabbed after his neighbors sought police assistance at around 9:30 p.m.
Superintendent Robert Domingo, Manila Police District Station 4 commander, said Badajos was drinking with his friends at the corner of Sta. Teresita and Tuazon streets when one of his buddies asked him to fire his gun.
The drunk suspect obliged and fired his gun, scaring residents in the area.
Badajos was being taken to the patrol car when his neighbors ganged up on him.
Makati police chief Senior Superintendent Rogelio Simon said he ordered the filing of criminal and administrative cases against the suspect.
“He will be relieved from his post if evidence warrants,” Simon said.
