Ex-labor leader shot dead

SANTIAGO, Agusan del Norte – A former secretary-general of the Kilusang Mayo Uno in Caraga was gunned down in this town on Tuesday.

Police said Linos Cubol, 60, was in front of his furniture shop in Purok 1, Poblacion Uno when motorcycle-riding gunmen arrived and shot him at close range at 9:45 a.m.

Cubol was pronounced dead on arrival at the Cabadbaran City District Hospital.

In Pangasinan, former barangay kagawad Rheo Sales, 39, was wounded in a gun attack in Sitio Socony, Barangay Salasa in Bugallon town.

Initial investigation showed the victim was driving home on his motorcycle with his wife and their 10-year-old son after attending the town fiesta when he was shot. – Eva Visperas
