3 dead in Calabarzon shootings

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Three persons were killed in separate shootings in Cavite and Batangas over the weekend.

Call center agent Christian Forneste and his friend were on their way home on a motorcycle when an unidentified assailant shot him along Aguinaldo Highway in Barangay San Agustin 2, Dasmariñas City, Cavite yesterday.

Forneste died while being taken to the De La Salle University Medical Center due to gunshots to the head and body.

His friend was not harmed as he managed to run and hide from the assailants.

In Batangas, Rolando Barojo and his wife Carmen were in a tricycle when they were shot by a lone assailant in Barangay Luyahan, Lian town on Saturday night.

Carmen managed to call for help, prompting his nephew Zoilo Austria to respond, but he too was shot.

Austria was declared dead on arrival at the Apacible Memorial Hospital while Barojo died at the scene.

Police have yet to determine the motive for the attack.
