20 Vietnamese poachers nabbed off Palawan
MANILA, Philippines — Twenty Vietnamese fishermen have been caught fishing in the waters off Palawan, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said yesterday.
Authorities seized 54 sharks and stingrays from the suspects, according to Capt. Cherryl Tindog, spokesperson for the Western Command.
Navy personnel were on patrol near Mangsee Island on May 19 when they spotted two Vietnamese fishing vessels with 10 crewmembers each on board.
A Navy vessel escorted the fishermen to Puerto Princesa where they underwent medical check-up and were turned over for inquest.
