Truck falls into ravine; 2 dead

TUBA, Benguet , Philippines — Two persons died when a truck loaded with vegetables plunged into a ravine in Barangay Taloy Sur in this town on Friday.

Rescuers took more than six hours to retrieve the bodies of Bobby Velayo, 26, and Alvin Garces, 27, both residents of Gapan, Nueva Ecija.

The truck driver, Joel Figuarao, 35, was taken to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center for treatment.

 Initial investigation showed the truck rammed an electric post before it fell into the ravine after Figuarao lost control of the wheel when the vehicle experienced mechanical problem.
