Woman, 63, caught with gun at NAIA-3

MANILA, Philippines — A 63-year-old woman was arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 (NAIA-3) yesterday morning for carrying a .38 caliber revolver in her handbag.

Grace Castro refused to put her shoulder bag into the x-ray machine when she tried to enter Gate 6 of the NAIA-3’s departure area, media affairs division head Jess Martinez said.

Screeners asked for Castro’s license and permit to carry the gun, but the woman was unable to present any documents. The gun was not loaded and Castro did not have bullets with her.

As airport policemen were about to handcuff her, Castro shouted that she has “an agent working at Camp Crame.”

Investigators have yet to determine her motive for bringing a gun to the airport.
