Anti-drug cop gunned down

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Two persons, including a policewoman, were killed in separate gun attacks in this city yesterday.

Police Officer 2 Lydia Halid, an anti-drug operative and a member of the intelligence unit of the Zamboanga City police, was driving her motorcycle on the way to the police station when she was shot in the face in Barangay San Roque at about 8:42 a.m. 

Almondo Monterola, 49, chief engineer of M/ V Mary Joy, was about to park his motorcycle when he was shot also by motorcycle-riding men along Don Alfaro street before 7 a.m.

The victims died at the scene.
