2 abductors of Zamboanga del Norte mayor's son nabbed

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Tracking police forces arrested two suspects involved in the abduction of the son of a town mayor during pursuit operation in Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte, police official said.

Arrested suspects were identified as Soudi Pondusan Banguih, 36, a resident of Barangay Danganon, Sirawai, and Edilberto Sarmago, 61, of Barangay Antonino, Labason town, both in Zamboanga del Norte.
Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office 9, said the suspects were arrested Thursday in Sirawai town. Their arrest were not made public immediately as follow-up operations were ongoing to apprehend the rest of the suspects.
Galvez said the two suspects were tagged as among the six gunmen who kidnapped Jelster Ed Tiu Quimbo, 28, a businessman and son of Labason town Mayor Eddie Quimbo, last Wednesday night in town center of Labason.

Based on a closed circuit television footage, the two suspects were positively identified by a witness who was with the victim during the incident.
Galvez said the two suspects were turned over and temporarily detained at Labason Municipal Police Station.
