Actress’ maid nabbed for theft

MANILA, Philippines - The housemaid of actress and television host Amy Perez was arrested by police for allegedly stealing an estimated P300,000 worth of cash and valuables in Quezon City on Tuesday night.

Melrose Besano, 37, was apprehended at the house of Perez along Mahabagin street in Barangay Teacher’s Village.

Perez’s husband, reporter Carlo Castillo, sought Besano’s arrest after three watches amounting to P280,000 went missing.

Castillo told police they found out that they were defrauded by Besano of P12,000 after she failed to remit the monthly dues collected from members of the homeowners association.

Another housemaid of the family told investigators that she saw Besano taking the watches.

Police recovered the three watches from the suspect.
