Davao Sur fishermen get boats

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Residents of a coastal town in Davao del Sur received 110 fishing boats from the regional office of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources recently.

Mayor Joel Ray Lopez and provincial fishery officer Carlito Aclao led the distribution of 110 fishing boats to the beneficiaries in Sta. Cruz town.

The project is part of BFAR’s effort to assist fishermen in the Davao Region who depend largely on fishing.

Lopez thanked BFAR, as he reminded the beneficiaries to take care of the boats, use proper fishing methods and comply with rules regarding the fishing season.
