ZAMBOANGA CITY - Fire razed the provincial office of the Department of Education and three apartments in Dipologo City, Zamboanga del Norte on Monday night.
Senior Inspector Dahlan Samuddin, information officer of Police Regional Office 9 (PRO), said the fire started from the education department's provincial office in Barangay Estaka at around 8:20 p.m.
Firemen from three nearby towns of Dipolog City responded, but they failed to prevent the fire from consuming the government building. The fire also spread to a two-storey building and three apartments.
Samuddin said no one was reperted hurt during the three-hour fire.
Dipolog City Fire Marshal Senior Inspector Richard Timosa said that according to the duty guard, they heard an electric spark before the fire broke out in the education department's building.
Timosa saidthe duty guard attempted to extinguish the fire, but he failed because the room where the spark came from was close.
He said the fire's damage was pegged at P2.5 million.
