'Chick # 24' the eaglet dies

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – The Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF) has announced the loss of “Chick # 24,” the latest eaglet hatched in captivity last Jan. 19 at the Malagos Eagle Center here.

Dennis Salvador, PEF executive director, said keepers at the Malagos Center noticed that the eaglet was not growing at the same rate as the others and eventually died of respiratory arrest after bouts of vomiting and diarrhea last Feb. 16.
