Non-working holiday in Bulacan

-

MANILA, Philippines - Workers in Bulacan can enjoy overtime pay today.

A non-working holiday was declared in Bulacan today to commemorate the 83rd birth anniversary of the late Sen. Blas Ople, who was the country’s longest serving labor and employment secretary.

As a tribute to the most outstanding son of Bulacan, a Blas Ople monument will be unveiled in front of the provincial capitol this afternoon after a Mass to be attended by his family and friends.

There will also be a job fair at SM Baliuag in remembrance of “Ka Blas,” who is recognized as the “Father of Overseas Employment” and author of the Philippine Labor Code.

Ople also served as Senate president and foreign affairs secretary. – Mayen Jaymalin
