A Philippine Coast Guard rescue team recovered yesterday morning the body of a 19-year-old student pilot from a training plane that crashed off Lubang Island in Mindoro Occidental last Thursday afternoon.

PCG commandant Vice Admiral Wilfredo Tamayo said the body of Dennis Garcia was airlifted to Manila at around 7 a.m. yesterday.

Reports said Garcia’s training plane – an Airlink aircraft with body number RPC 771 – went down some 500 meters off Barangay Tangal in the island town of Lubang.

Tamayo said Airlink would take charge of retrieving the plane wreck. – Evelyn Macairan, Rudy Santos
