P25-M fund for women in Mindanao

-
DAVAO CITY — A P25-million fund will be launched here today for projects aimed at improving the lives of women in Mindanao.

Irene Santiago, convenor of the Mindanao Commission on Women, said poverty alleviation programs usually do not involve women, thus the fund will be utilized for projects benefiting them.

A pledging session will mark the fund’s launching at the Davao Waterfront Insular Hotel. Various donors, including foreign funding agencies, have pledged to take part.

The fund will be administered by the Mindanao Commission on Women which will also be formally institutionalized in today’s event. Edith Regalado
