Jireh Lim flagged by Meta for performance of own hit song 'Buko'

MANILA, Philippines — Musician Jireh Lim poked fun at receiving a Facebook notification regarding music rights for posting a performance video of his hit 2013 song "Buko."
Last February 22, Lim posted on his official Facebook account a video of himself performing "Buko" with a band.
Just several minutes later, the artist posted a screenshot of a notification from Facebook indicating that the earnings of his video were being claimed by music right holders.
"Multiple rights owners requested changes to your video because a large amount of their music was detected," the notification said, referring to the entirety of the video being flagged.
As a result, the music right holders are claiming the video's earnings as applied in 90 territories. None of Lim's other posts were affected by the flagging.
"When Facebook says: 'sir, that song, 'Buko' is copyrighted’…" Lim wrote in the latter post's caption. "Gusto ko replyan: 'bro, ako to oh! Ako to! JIREH LIM! JIREH LIM! Yung nag sulat mismo ng kanta na yan. Hays.'"
As of writing, the screenshotted post of the notification has more reactions and comments than the "Buko" performance video, which still has more shares.
Lim did not share who was claiming to be the music right holders, which ideally should be him as the songwriter or Warner Music Philippines since it distributed Lim's debut album "Love and Soul," where "Buko" was included two years after its release.
