‘Everything has paid off’: KATSEYE wins 1st Video Music Awards

MANILA, Philippines — Global girl group KATSEYE picked up their first Video Music Award earlier today, September 8, as the “Gabriela” hitmakers took the stage to thank fans for supporting their work, which they said has “paid off.”
KATSEYE won Push Performance of the Year for their hit single “Touch.”
Vocalist Lara Raj and Filipino leader Sophia Laforteza delivered the group’s acceptance speech, giving a special shoutout to Eyekons, the group’s fandom.
"Oh my God. This is so crazy," Lara said, after handing over their first-ever Moon trophy to fellow member Manon.
"Thank you so much. This is all very new to us. This is our first time ever doing this, so this is crazy. We've been through a lot together, so having this moment feel so rewarding, and feels like everything's paid off, and fuels us to keep going, so thank you,” she added.
Sophia, daughter of theater actress Carla Guevara-Laforteza, also thanked their fans, producers, and agency, and concluded the acceptance speech with a message of gratitude in Filipino.
"We are so grateful to HYBE and Geffen records for believing in us... thank you to our 'EYEKONS,' we are here because of you. We love you so, so much. Thank you for believing in us…Maraming-maraming salamat,” Sophia said.
Apart from KATSEYE, Filipino-American singer Bruno Mars took home another Moon Person trophy after his collaboration with Rosé, “APT.,” won Song of the Year.
