Traffic jams seen as MRT-7 work starts

Robertzon Ramirez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Heavy traffic is expected in Quezon City as the construction of the Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7) is set to start this week, an official of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) warned motorists yesterday.

Bong Nebrija, MMDA operations supervisor, said North Avenue, Mindanao Avenue and Agham Road all the way to Quezon Memorial Circle and Commonwealth Avenue will experience “heavier traffic” than usual because of the MRT-7 construction.

Nebrija said they cannot yet tell how many lanes will be affected once EEI Corp. starts the project’s first phase, which includes excavating soil where the North Avenue station will be built.
