MANILA, Philippines — A 50-year-old policeman was shot dead before dawn yesterday by a still unidentified motorcycle-riding gunman while he was drinking outside their house in Pasay City.

Senior Police Officer 2 Patrick Palisoc, a member of the Police Security and Protection Group, and his friends were drinking outside his house along Goquiolay street when the gunman parked his motorcycle and shot him repeatedly, killing him, according to the Pasay police.

Citing statements from witnesses, investigators said the assailant walked to his parked motorcycle a few minutes after killing Palisoc, who died at the scene.

Investigators are checking the closed-circuit television camera footage near the crime scene to identify the assailant and are trying to determine possible motives for the killing.

In Mandaluyong City, a still unidentified man was shot dead last Friday.

Chief Superintendent Romulo Sapitula, Eastern Police District director, said the shooting happened in Barangay Plainview at around 1:55 p.m.

Sapitula said the victim was walking along Tanglaw street when the assailant shot him repeatedly. He died at the scene. The assailant left the scene on foot.
