Makati wants waterways near construction sites declogged

Robertzon Ramirez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – The Makati City government ordered its developers and contractors of the ongoing constructions of about 47 buildings to declog waterways around their job sites to prevent flooding this rainy season.

A memorandum signed by Elmer Acuesta, acting city engineer and chief of the Office of the Building Official, stated that developers and contractors must clean up the residues of construction materials left in the drainage system as they cause frequent floods.

He also required the developers and contractors to submit their monthly maintenance report to the city’s public works department until the completion of the project.

Acuesta said the city government will stop the projects if developers and contractors do not comply with the recently issued memorandum.
