The government will also provide chairs and free WiFi for passengers while waiting for the trains.

The LRT-1 runs from Baclaran in Pasay City to Roosevelt in Quezon City and carries an average of 400,000 passengers per day.

Meanwhile, the LRT-2 runs from Santolan in Pasig City to Recto in Manila and has a design capacity of up to 240,000 passengers daily.

In his first State of the Nation Address last Monday, President Rodrigo Duterte said that he wants to extend the operating hours of the LRT from 9:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. to accommodate students who go home late. — Patricia Lourdes Viray
