Man kills self after split with girlfriend

MANILA, Philippines - A criminology graduate died after reportedly shooting himself with an improvised shotgun following a breakup with his girlfriend in Quezon City yesterday morning.

Jhun Opiniano, 24, died from a gunshot wound in the chest, police said.

Prior to this, police probers said Opiniano went to his friend’s house in Barangay Nagkaisang Nayon at around 7 a.m.

The victim’s friend said he was outside the house when he heard a gunshot.

When he went inside to check, he saw Opiniano lifeless.

Police recovered the weapon used by the victim.

The family of Opiniano told police that the victim was depressed after his girlfriend broke up with him.

He attempted suicide last week by drinking sleeping pills, police said.
