Robertzon Ramirez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - An alleged member of the Sigue-Sigue Sputnik gang was arrested during an anti-crime drive in Quezon City before dawn Friday.

Fernando Santos, 52, was flagged down by police officers at the intersection of E. Rodriguez Avenue and Hillcrest street in Barangay Immaculate Conception for driving a motorcycle without a helmet at around 3:30 a.m., case investigator Police Officer 1 Karl Cruz said.

As he moved to retrieve documents from the motorcycle’s compartment, police officers spotted a .38 caliber revolver tucked into his waistband, prompting them to search him.

Santos, who has been detained at the Quezon City Police District Station 10, was charged for violating Republic Act 10054, the Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009, and RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
