Jaywalking foreigner spits on Isko
MANILA, Philippines - A Sudanese student caught jaywalking was arrested and slapped with multiple criminal charges for spitting and elbowing Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno late yesterday afternoon.
Amro Aboud Hassan Eltayeb was charged with grave threats, jaywalking and assault before the city prosecutor’s office.
Moreno was manning traffic along Roxas Boulevard corner Pedro Gil about 6 p.m. Tuesday when Eltayeb crossed the road.
Moreno, also Manila’s traffic czar, caught Eltayeb’s attention but he reacted violently.
Instead of acceding to Moreno’s call, Eltayeb pushed him with his elbow and spat at his face.
An angry Moreno immediately called the police who then arrested the student.
In a statement given to SPO2 James Poso of the Manila Police District (MPD), Eltayeb said he had vodka before Moreno apprehended him.
Eltayeb, who lives in a boarding house in Pampanga near his flying school, is currently detained at the MPD-General Assignment Section.
