Ex-basketball player nabbed in drug bust

MANILA, Philippines - A former basketball player was arrested by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency during a drug bust at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig yesterday.

Agents seized a stash of the party drug “ecstasy” from the former cager, said PDEA spokesman Derrick Arnold Carreon.

The former basketball player was named only through an alias, “Rey,” because of an ongoing follow-up operation.

According to Carreon, the former cager was arrested during a buy-bust at the BGC parking grounds at around 2 a.m.

Agents seized from the suspect 30 capsules of ecstasy and a bottle containing what is believed to be the liquid variant of the same party drug.

Agents also impounded the suspect’s red Ford Mustang.
