Patrimonio cousin kills self

-
A 29-year-old man, reportedly a cousin of basketball player Alvin Patrimonio, hanged himself the other day inside his home in Quezon City after breaking up with his girlfriend.

Victim Arnel Patrimonio, of 94-C Road 1, Project 6, was found dead with a stab wound in his abdomen and deep lacerations on both his wrists. His body was already in a state of decomposition.

Police sources said that Patrimonio was supposed to leave for the US on that day, after his working visa was approved by the Bureau of Immigration. His parents, Benjamin and Luz Patrimonio, found him naked and lying on top of his bed.

Operatives of the Central Police District recovered a kitchen knife and a cutter beside the victim’s body. Follow-up investigation is now being conducted to make sure that no foul play was involved in the incident.

His friend, a certain Bernard Miranda, told police that the victim has been depressed for some time now since he broke up with his girlfriend last month. But Patrimonio was reportedly ecstatic when he called-up his mother last Thursday to tell her that his application for a working visa in the US has been approved. His parents arrived at his place at about 12:30 p.m. to accompany him to the airport. They became concerned when they found out that the door was locked and their son failed to open it.

The Patrimonios forced their way inside and were shocked to see their son dead in his room. Investigators believed that Arnel slashed both his wrists before stabbing himself in the abdomen and then hanged himself. Matthew Estabillo
