Shopping capital

The formidable presence of prestigious malls in Mandaluyong has gained this city a new monicker as "Shopping Capital of the Philippines."

In a Board Resolution No. 01-2001, the Mandaluyong City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (MCCI) has declared Mandaluyong as the "Shopping Capital of the Philippines" being home to the biggest names in malling and commercial business including SM Megamall, Shangri-La Plaza Crossings Department Store, Robinson’s Starmall, Puregold and EDSA Central’s Mayflower.

"Mandaluyong is the only place in the Philippines where malls stand side by side, and attract millions of people day by day. It is a busier district, a business haven and the city only deserves to be known as the country’s shopping capital," said MCCI president Robert Rivera.

He explained that the city’s businessmen find it aptly timely to give Mandaluyong this credit, as existing and interested investors equally measure and identify sound and profitable business in the city in terms of the favorable showings of mall-related businesses here.

"The unmitigated increase in the number of shopping malls and commercial skylines in Mandaluyong catapult it to becoming a Class A city and the immediate future’s most important business district. We are expecting the influx of business investors and opportunities," said Rivera.
