Cebu City to hold Korea Day

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Government through its Tourism Commission will hold the 3rd Cebu City Korea Day on October 4 & 5, 2013.

This effort is done to acknowledge the relatively new Korean community that has chosen the city as their temporary home.

The festival will be an opportunity for the Cebuanos to learn the culture and traditions of the Koreans who have come to live and consider Cebu City as their second home as well as to foster good relationship with them.

The Korea Day Festival in Cebu is celebrated every first Saturday of October. It started in October 2011.

The City Council, through a resolution, declared the 1st Saturday of every October as Korean Day to signify the city’s earnest effort to promote goodwill and understanding between the Cebuanos and the Koreans.

The celebration will culminate with a series of activities related to the Korean Culture. Among them is the Singing & Dance Contest dubbed as “KPOP” to be held today, October 4; Food Street offering Korean foods and delicacies starting today until October 6; Film festival featuring Korean Movies, October 3 – 6; and Cultural Show, October 5.

This is to encourage camaraderie among citizens from different nations, promote nationalism and patriotism among the participants and audience through the presented performances, better understanding of Korean Culture, cultural exchange of nations, and make Cebu as a second home to foreigners.-PR/FPL (FREEMAN)
