Village heads told to prepare for state of brgy address

CEBU, Philippines - Barangay captains in Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu cities and other cities and municipalities in Metro Cebu are expected to deliver their respective State of Barangay Addresses soon.

Malacañang has issued a memorandum order telling barangay captains to call for an assembly or residents for the State of Barangay Address.

The memorandum dated September 18 was signed by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa, Jr.

The memorandum advises barangay captains to discuss issues and concerns affecting their barangays such as, but not limited to, disaster preparedness, solid waste management, and peace and order situations.

They may also undertake other activities they deem appropriate to create public awareness on, and generate participation in the barangay assembly, such as, but not limited to, medical or dental missions, tiangges, cultural presentations, and others.

With the barangay assembly, barangay officials would be able to learn the sentiments of the people.

Barangay officials are also expected to encourage residents to share their suggestions on matters regarding projects that need immediate attention or implementation by public officials.  (FREEMAN)
