Leaders promise to enforce road map

CEBU, Philippines - With a vision of making Mandaue City a premiere business destination in Central Visayas in 2016, Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes, other government leaders, and sectoral representatives have signed a “covenant” committing themselves to implement the newly-crafted Mandaue City Development Strategy Road Map.

Assisted by the Institute for Solidarity in Asia, a non-government agency, the city represented by the mayor, presented the road map including measurable targets and a scorecard to a multi-sectoral group.

The panelists during the half-day activity was held at Days Hotel in Mandaue City were Eric Mendoza, president of Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dominica Chua, chief operating officer of Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Vicmando Suliva of Tripartite Industrial Peace Council, Francisco Eizmendi, president of ISA, Ruy Moreno of ISA, Archt. Joseph Michael Espina, dean, USC College of Architecture, Ofelia Oliva of BLGF, DTI regional director Asteria Caberte, DepEd provincial supervisor Arden Monisit, Engr. Zoilo Cortes, and Guadalupe Latonio of CLEAR, an environmental group.

Eizmendi, president of ISA said the success of the project requires a shift in paradigm from business as usual to actual transformation in all aspects of government.

He said the Performance Government System (PGS) they have introduced in Mandaue helps transform the organization.  He said the city is now prepared for the final presentation in Manila on March 30 before a national and international audience. (FREEMAN)
