Gather some Moss

MANILA, Philippines - If there is one woman who’s closet is the envy of all stylistas, who consistently tops the list of best-dressed model/mom/musician’s girlfriend, and who will undoubtedly be a style icon for the books, it’s Kate Moss. Not because she owns the most expensive designer gowns, but because she knows how to rock them. She can also look hot covered in mud, wearing little denim shorts and rubber Wellingtons. She’s just one of those chicks who knows how to get the louche luxe look right— part boho, part rock chick, and purely original.

Kate Moss and Topshop present their ninth collection of signature pieces for spring/summer 2009, reflecting her take on dressing, and dresses in particular: fresh pretty white cotton sundresses and printed tea dresses are an easy thrown-on summer staple, embellished flowing chiffon dresses are perfect as a beach cover-up or elegant evening wear, and black sequined mini dresses exude after-hours glamour.

Folk-inspired pieces are reminiscent of the ’70s and capture Kate’s love of summer music festivals. Bright and flirty dresses are made from panels of clashing floral prints with matching quilted jackets. A knit twin-set in orange, yellow and blue stripes worn with indigo hot pants continues the playful vibe.

Skinny jeans are brightened up for the season in spring-like pale blue, pink and faded gray, and knitwear includes Kate’s trademark stripes in classic crew necks and cardigans. As florals are fast becoming synonymous with Kate, for this collection she has worked exclusively alongside the famous house of print fabrics, Liberty of London. Together they have reworked three iconic prints from the Liberty archive —Poppy, which is set against a sky blue background, Kate Nouveau is 1920s art nouveau-inspired, and Lilabell, named after her daughter, consists of pale lilac bluebells.

“I love wearing prints, particularly in the summer, and they’ve proved a real hit in my past collections. Collaborating with the print studio was an amazing experience. The capsule range features original color combinations exclusive to my spring collection,” she says.

The Kate Moss Topshop collection launches this weekend at Topshop Robinsons Galleria, Powerplant Mall Rockwell, and SM Mall of Asia.
