MANILA, Philippines — Original Gerber baby Ann Turner Cook died at age 94 on June 3, 2022 in Florida, USA, as announced by the baby food company.

Her neighbor Dorothy Hope Smith drew the famous sketch that would become the face of Gerber for many decades.

In 1928, Gerber was looking for a baby ambassador that would represent their brand in an advertising campaign.

Smith sent an unfinished charcoal sketch of the five-month old Cook, which became the official trademark image of the brand in 1931.

"Many years before becoming an extraordinary mother, teacher and writer, her smile and expressive curiosity captured hearts everywhere and will continue to live on as a symbol for all babies. We extend our deepest sympathies to Ann’s family and to anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her," Gerber said in a statement.
