Protect your special child even when you're gone

MANILA, Philippines – The death of a loved one is the most difficult thing a special child has to deal with. There is the pain of grief and the unending spiral of shock, denial, unanswered questions, and sometimes even the unavoidable regression. But the emotional aspect of death is but a mere side note to the real issue when parents leave their special child. The most difficult thing to deal with is managing the financial aspect, fulfilling the residential needs, and finding the right person to take care of the child after the parents have passed away.

Atty. Pura Angelica Santiago recognizes this delicate situation that parents of special children face. Atty. Santiago will share bits of legal wisdom with parents at the monthly Center for Possibilities Parent’s Support Group on Wednesday, July 15, 4 p.m. at Reach School International in Makati City.

A managing partner in Santiago, Cruz, and Sarte law offices, Santiago mastered in litigation, domestic and family relations law, and corporate law. For her, tending for a child with learning disability requires round-the-clock care. Parents should consider the appropriate care and services for their special child so as to protect them from people who might take advantage of their condition.

Reach School International is located at 67 Paseo de Roxas, Makati City. For parents who are interested to join the discussion, call Reverie Communications Services, Inc. at 725-5132 or 723-1242 (look for Tina or Jeng).
