The non-cocktail cocktail

Denim jacket from Stradivarius; patent sneakers from Bershka; necklace from Myanmar street market., Chambray long-sleeved shirt from Zara., Navy and white crop sweater top from Forever 21.

MANILA, Philippines - If you still haven’t caught on, here’s a quick trend recap: Normcore is the fashion movement where “normal” and relaxed dressing is the stylish status quo by cleverly pairing formal with casual pieces or effortlessly marrying luxe with less.

It’s all about, “I look like I didn’t put any serious thought into my look but I actually did.”

So put your pro makeup kits and hair arsenals aside then exhale a sigh of relief as relaxed glamour is key to looking current, fresh and more youthful.

Here are three looks using one ultra-feminine cocktail dress by Style Staple, to inspire you:

Date with Denim

Dresses can also double as a skirt. A denim jacket buttoned up makes for an edgy structured top. Then whip out that statement necklace worn like a bib collar.

Chambray Holiday

Relax and let loose with a soft chambray long-sleeved shirt over your cocktail dress.

As inspired by fashion muse, Olivia Palermo, skip the buttons and tie a knot instead to cinch that waist!

Sporty Crop

You don’t need to bare any skin with your regular crop by wearing it over a dress, which now looks like a high-waisted skirt.

Uneven hemmed dresses can overly accentuate pear-shaped hips so balance those proportions with horizontal stripes to widen shoulders.

Kickin’ Style

Sneakers are the new stiletto. Really. Love or hate it, opt for patent styles for a dressier feel.

This trend, however, is not something the Kim Kardashians, Beyoncés and JLos of the world will try due to its supposed underwhelming blowout factor. Don’t worry because even if we don’t have a glam squad powdering our noses or ironing our tresses, the end result when pulled off right is understated chic.
