Rolando Dy destroys Malignaggi to defend bare knuckle belt

MANILA, Philippines — Filipino fighter Rolando Dy was sensational in knocking out former world boxing champion Paulie Malignaggi in two rounds to defend the BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing super welterweight title at the AO Arena in Manchester, England on Sunday (Manila time).
The 34-year-old Dy, a mixed martial arts veteran who has found success in bare knuckle fighting, sent the older Malignaggi down twice in the second round en route to the victory.
The son of former Filipino world champion Rolando Navarrete, Dy jumped on Malignaggi right after the opening bell, clipping the 45-year-old American with left hook and smothering him with more punches for most of the round.
He decked Malignaggi five seconds into the second round with a left hook and right straight combination. Malignaggi, a former two-division boxing titlist, beat the count, but the reigning champion put him down a second time — and for good — with another crisp right.
Aside from retaining his crown, Dy improved to 6-1 ( with 5 knockouts) as a bare knuckle fighter.
