MANILA, Philippines — The University of the Philippines (UP) Board of Regents has approved the opening of a Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology (BS RadTech) program at UP Manila.

The program will be offered under the College of Allied Medical Professions, according to a post by student publication The Manila Collegian on Wednesday, April 30.

The first batch of BS RadTech students will come from applicants who qualified in the University of the Philippines College Admission Test 2026 through the Degree Program with Available Slots pathway.

The move comes as the country faces a shortage of radiologic technologists, estimated at around 19,000, based on figures cited in the report.

Only a limited number of public universities currently offer the program, contributing to the gap in trained personnel in diagnostic imaging and related services.
