Torre: PNP, Napolcom conflict resolved

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III yesterday downplayed tensions with the National Police Commission after the Napolcom blocked his bid to reshuffle the police force, saying the issue has been settled internally.
“I did not speak earlier because I believed this would be settled internally. Now I can say it has been resolved,” Torre said at a news briefing at Camp Crame.
The matter was merely an “administrative conflict” that has been addressed within the police force, he maintained.
“We are not denying that there are conflicts happening, but these are all administrative in nature that I am confident can be resolved within the organization,” he noted.
Torre declined to disclose details of his dialogue with the Napolcom, stressing that such matters are best left within internal systems.
“It is unfortunate that the issue came out in the media because not everything is for public consumption. Some things should remain inside,” he stressed.
Asked if his reshuffle order remains in effect, Torre said: “Let’s see in the next few days. If nothing changes, it stays. If there is, then it did not stay.”
The Napolcom resolution, he said, had no lingering impact on the police force.
“This is already closed. It has been resolved with a final directive. The book is closed, the case is closed and we move on,” Torre said.
