MANILA, Philippines — There is a fake rewards promotional campaign supposedly led by telecommunications giant Globe Telecom, according to the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC).

Scammers are posing as Globe agents or representatives offering enrollment in a rewards program to collect the personal and bank details of unsuspecting victims, CICC executive director Alexander Ramos said yesterday in an advisory.

The domain globeeph.top has been preying on vulnerable customers through short message services.

Upon clicking the link, customers are required to provide personal details and their bank account number to redeem points.

The CICC’s fraud team has recommended blocking the domain, Ramos said.

Stop clicking links from unofficial sources to avoid being scammed, Ramos reiterated.

Anti-fraud network Gogolook classified the domain as a “dangerous link.”

“High-risk content detected. Do not click. The URL may contain security issues and attempt to phish for your personal info and money,” Gogolook’s URL Scan said.

Phishing victims are encouraged to call 1326, the hotline of the Inter-Agency Response Center.
