MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go, Sen. Ronald dela Rosa and Quezon City Councilor Mikey Belmonte led a Department of Social Welfare and Development livelihood program payout at the SB Park in Barangay Batasan Hills, Quezon City the other day.

Some 300 beneficiaries from Barangays Commonwealth, Batasan Hills, Holy Spirit, Payatas and Bagong Silangan received the Sustainable Livelihood Program-Livelihood Assistance Grant (SLP-LAG), a community-based capacity building program that aims to benefit poor, vulnerable and marginalized households and communities by improving their socio-economic conditions.

Low-income families whose livelihood or jobs have been affected by the pandemic are provided assistance.

Go stressed the importance of becoming productive members of society and continuing the campaign against illegal drugs.

During the event, the senator also led the distribution of wheelchairs to senior citizens and those with disabilities as well as shoes and food packs.

Since 2019, Go and Dela Rosa have been active partners of the city’s 2nd district, together with Belmonte, who serves as chairman of the 22nd City Council committee on urban poor and human settlement.

Belmonte said he wants to ensure that apart from the key initiatives of the city government for the urban poor, marginalized and vulnerable, national programs such as the SLP-LAG are made more effective tools to empower the city’s urban poor.
